Nagpur: Some Indian fans were quick to find solace after New Zealand crushed Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team by 47 runs in the World T20 opener at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday.

The fans on social media pointed to two instances: First was the loss against New Zealand in the inaugural World T20 in 2007 at Johannesburg, but the Indians still went on to win the title. The second point was about India's only loss in the 2011 World Cup came in Nagpur.
'Wake-up call' Skipper Dhoni admitted it was a "good wake-up call" for the favourites of the tournament as the loss to New Zealand has put India under a virtual do-or-die situation for every match they play from hereon, starting with arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday at Kolkata's Eden Gardens.
"Once you lose the first game, all the other matches are do-or-die situations because you can't afford to lose anymore. Even if lose another match by mistake then we are out of the tournament. Hopefully, the upcoming matches will bring the best out of us," said Dhoni in his post-match conference.
The only factor that Dhoni did not like about the NZ defeat was going down by a huge margin. "If the margin of defeat was smaller, it would have been better. In one (World) T20 (tournament), we lost one match and we didn't qualify for the tournament. So it's important that we win our coming matches, but what is also important is how we win those matches and by what margin," the skipper signed off.
