Liverpool manager Arne Slot pumps team up for Sunday’s clash with stuttering Tottenham Hotspur

Arne Slot admitted that expectations are always sky high for Liverpool when they face Tottenham Hotspur, particularly at Anfield.
The Reds boss reckoned that would be the case even if their Sunday’s English Premier League (EPL) opponents were table toppers, and even more so now that the North London outfit are struggling in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone.

“I think if Tottenham would be No. 1 in the league at the moment, every fan would expect us at home to win. We can win our 1500th [league] game at home, so expectations come from history and history has shown that this club has been able to win a lot of games, let alone home games. So expectations are always sky high,” said Slot.
Slot’s men have been far from perfect this season — they are sixth in the league with 48 points from 29 games. They also come into this fixture on the back of a 0-1 Champions League loss to Galatasaray. Liverpool also lost their previous league tie to bottom-placed Wolves 1-2.
However, history suggests the game against Tottenham could be just what the doctor ordered. Liverpool have lost just one of their last 31 league games at home against Tottenham, and are unbeaten in 14 matches since a 0-2 defeat to them in May 2011.
