Germany&rsquo;s FIFA World Cup-winning midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger recently gave a strong indication that he was indeed in a relationship with tennis ace Ana Ivanovic when he displayed the Serbian player&rsquo;s national flag on his football boots.

Schweinsteiger was reportedly dating Ivanovic last year. The on-off romance began in September, when the pair were spotted holding hands and strolling in the streets of New York during the US Open where Ivanovic lost in the second round.

However, later it was learnt that the German footballer had dumped the Serb and returned to his long-term partner Sarah Brandner. During the time, Schweini always sported his girlfriend, Sarah&rsquo;s name on his boots. However, the couple separated and the break-up was confirmed when Schweini removed Sarah&rsquo;s name from his blue boots.

Schweinsteiger&rsquo;s new red boots now have the red-blue-white Serbian flag printed on them in an obvious reference to the 27-year-old Belgrade-born Ivanovic.
Both, the footballer as well as the tennis star, have not yet commented on their relationship status. Number five seed Ivanovic is currently in Melbourne, where she lost in Round One of the year&rsquo;s first Grand Slam, the Australian Open.
