<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/football/article/messi-told-me-i-m-great-vozinha-23638271" rel="nofollow">Cabo Verde's goalkeeper, Vozinha</a>, gained the limelight on and off the field in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2026. He has now signed a deal with Chile club Colo-Colo in the current transfer window.
Anibal Mosa, who is the club's president, said that the goalkeeper will soon arrive in Chile and will undergo a few tests before the deal is officially revealed.
"Vozinha will become a Colo-Colo player. He will arrive in Chile soon, undergo the necessary tests, then be officially presented at the Estadio Monumental," he said on France's RMC Network as quoted by Goal.com.
Earlier, there were rumours that Vozinha, also known as Josimar Dias, would move to Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami. Had the deal turned into reality, he would have shared the dressing room with <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/football/article/fifa-world-cup-2026-lionel-messi-shares-heartfelt-message-following-heartbreaking-final-loss-to-spain-23640835" rel="nofollow">Argentina's legend Lionel Messi</a>.
Vozinha made a total of 18 saves in this tournament; the only goalkeepers aged 40 or older to register more saves at a single WC are Peter Shilton (28 in 1990 for England) and Dino Zoff (27 in 1982 for Italy), as per OptaJoe.
The 40-year-old footballer had no professional deal to his name till the age of 26, having played in Cyprus, Slovakia, Moldova and Angola. Before the global showpiece, he was representing Portuguese second division team Chaves.
Mosa concluded by saying that the Mindelo-born footballer's excellent form made them bring him to the team.
"From a sporting point of view, Vozinha is in excellent form, and that is why we decided to bring him in," he signed off.

Later, football fans across the world witnessed Spain's iconic triumph in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The side secured a 1-0 win in the final against Argentina.
In the title clash of the marquee event, a late goal from Ferran Torres helped <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/football/article/spain-world-cup-winner-marc-cucurella-receives-sweet-bday-wish-from-partner-claudia-23641486" rel="nofollow">Spain</a> to emerge victorious at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford. This was the second time that Spain has clinched the elusive showpiece.
