Champions League: Chelsea lack hunger, says Antonio Conte after loss to AS Roma

Blues boss Antonio Conte urges players to show fighting spirit and dig deeper after their 0-3 thrashing by Roma

Listen to this article :

Antonio Conte told his Chelsea players to "dig deeper" to find consistency and stability to overcome their problems after a chastening 3-0 loss at Roma on Tuesday. Stephan El Shaarawy scored after 38 seconds and pounced on an Antonio Rudiger error to make it 2-0 after 36 minutes. Diego Perotti struck a fine third after 63 minutes as Roma climbed above the Blues to take top spot in Champions League Group 'C'. A win in Conte's first match in Italy as Blues boss would have seen Chelsea advance to the knockout stages, but instead the Blues head coach was left to ponder how to respond in Sunday's EPL clash against Manchester United. Conte said: "This season we have to dig very deep if we want to be competitive and fight for something important. If we are not ready to dig deeper, we can have this type of game.
