Manchester: Manchester United have been hit by a fresh injury crisis after manager Louis van Gaal revealed he has only one fit centre-back ahead of West Ham's visit to Old Trafford. United have only managed one win from six games in all competitions this season and hit a new low last weekend when they squandered a 3-1 lead in a 5-3 loss at Leicester.

That shock defeat brutally exposed the defensive frailties that were already a concern for van Gaal and to make matters worse for the Dutchman he is dealing with yet another wave of injuries which have decimated his options at centre-back. United have suffered an alarming number of injuries since van Gaal took charge after the World Cup in July and the latest outbreak has left him with Marcos Rojo as the only senior central defender available for Saturday's Premier League match.
