A 2-1 defeat away to the Czech Republic in their opening Group A fixture means Guus Hiddink's side are already on the backfoot as they welcome Kazakhstan to Amsterdam.
The World Cup third-placed side, who travel to Iceland next week, will be looking for a first win since Hiddink replaced Louis van Gaal at the helm, and Van Persie knows the importance of a fixture the Dutch will be expected to win.
"We really need to win," he said. "We are now in this situation and everyone is well aware that the game should be won. If you look around you in football, then almost anyone from anywhere can win or lose.
"It's not as easy as it is often written. This is a fact that we have seen in the Czech Republic."
Kazakhstan go into the game above Holland in the group having drawn 0-0 at home to Latvia in their opening fixture.
The two sides have never met and Yuri Krasnozhan's men will be huge underdogs, with Holland winning their last 17 competitive matches on home soil.
Elsewhere, Czech Republic will be looking to build on their last-gasp victory over Holland when they travel to face Turkey, with coach Pavel Vrba in confident mood.
The 50-year-old has offered to buy the beers for Czech supporters if the team can continue success on the pitch with positives results against Turkey and then in Kazakhstan next week.
