Brentford exposed Chelsea’s defensive problems to inflict a 0-3 EPL defeat on Friday. Goals from Jaidon Anthony (61st min), Igor Thiago (83rd min) and Fabio Carvalho (90+4th min) took unbeaten Brentford above their west London neighbours and up to fourth in the table.

“Everything was disappointing, especially the result. We must do better. For 45 minutes we were competing well, but in the second half we dropped [our performance level], and conceded the three goals. You need to be very focused, and once you concede from set-pieces, it gives them an advantage and control. Then we conceded the second goal it became much harder. [In attack] we lost a bit of our discipline when we were close to the box. We have to work on these mistakes,” said Xabi Alonso.
