Manchester: Greater Manchester Police jokingly declared Wayne Rooney a "missing person" on Sunday in a now-deleted tweet which has attracted criticism.

The official account claimed the Manchester United striker was "last seen in the Trafford area wearing a red shirt", as the captain extended his goalless run to 325 minutes against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
