Hockey Olympian MM Somaya was glad to witness his school team, St Mary's clinch the MSSA U-16 Div I title yesterday. Somaya was a member of the St Mary's team that won the MSSA Div-I title in 1974. MSSA's committee member Anslem Alphonso had played alongside Somaya in that team.

"It was an outstanding match as both Dominic Savio and St Mary's fought well. St Mary's dominated initially, but Dominic Savio bounced back," he said. Somaya also pointed out that there was a stark contrast between players of his era and today. "Today, players are professional and tactically very strong. We played naturally and with flair, but there is more planning today," he added.
