New Delhi: Had it been not for the injury time equaliser by local lad Robin Singh, it would have been his worst defeat in life, Delhi Dynamos marquee manager-cum-player Roberto Carlos said in New Delhi on Friday.
Coming on as a substitute, India striker Robin scored a injury time goal to eke out a 1-1 draw for Delhi Dynamos against Mumbai City FC in eighth round Indian Super League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Friday.
"Today would have been the worst defeat of my life. My team was creating opportunities, my team was creating chances. We had more possession. They scored after a foul that the referee didn't see," World Cup winning Brazilian defender Carlos told reporters after the match.
Dynamos have failed to capitalise on two consecutive ISL home games -- drawing with NorthEast United FC on Tuesday and Mumbai City FC on Friday-- thereby losing 4 possible points.
Robin scored moments before the final whistle in extra-time to give the host's a desperate draw after Mumbai had gone ahead in the 70th minute through Frenchman Frederic Piquionne's strike.
"Against NorthEast I wasn't that happy (with the draw) but tonight I'm happy. Obviously the coach and players always want to win, and we deserved this goal in the last minute," Carlos said.
"We are still adding some points. One is better than zero. The most important thing is my team fought very hard," he added.
On the often-asked question about his team's low goal scoring rate, Carlos replied: "If you ask me the same question, I'll give you the same answer. Our obligation is to come between first and four on the table."
"If we are lucky to score three or four goals in the coming matches then my words will be different."
In contrast Mumbai City FC marquee manager-cum-player Nicolas Anelka said it was a big disappointment to concede a last minute goal.
"We came here to win and to concede the goal in the last minute is a big disappointment. But it's part of football. We wanted to come back to Mumbai with our first away win. It's sad for me, sad for the team," he said.
Anelka said India captain Sunil Chhetri and Haitian Sony Norde will be missing the next one and two ISL matches respectively, owing to international duty, and added that he will have to fill in their void in the team and contribute more.
"Yes I will play more. That's why I played in the last game. I need to work well this week because I'm not fit enough. You will see more of me in the coming matches."
