<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/football/article/english-priemere-league-tottenham-hotspur-part-ways-with-thomas-frank-following-poor-epl-run-23616242" rel="nofollow">Tottenham Hotspur FC</a> have completed the signing of Dutch international defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton &amp; Hove Albion on a long-term deal, the north London club has announced on its official website.
Reflecting on his transfer, Jan Paul remarked, "It's a huge honour to become a Spurs player and when you join such a big club, it's a dream come true.
"I already have a really strong connection with the Head Coach, who I'm looking forward to working with again. Micky (van de Ven) has also told me some great things about the Club, so I can't wait to get started. I've been at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as an opposition player and now I'm looking forward to walking out there in front of our fans wearing the Spurs shirt. That will be a special moment," he added.
The 26-year-old central defender made the switch to north London following a highly successful tenure with the Seagulls, where he established his reputation as a Premier League and international player.
He originally signed for <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/football/article/brighton-will-make-it-very-intense-arne-slot-ahead-of-pl-clash-23621840" rel="nofollow">Brighton &amp; Hove Albion</a> at just 20 years old, having completed one season of senior football. His professional breakthrough came with NAC Breda, where he made 16 appearances and helped the second-tier Dutch side reach the KNVB Cup semifinals before securing his move to English football.
To continue his development, he was immediately loaned back to the Netherlands, spending the 2020/21 season playing top-flight football with Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen and reaching another KNVB Cup semifinal.
The following year brought his first experience of the English game via a season-long loan with Championship team Blackburn Rovers. He enjoyed a spectacular campaign, eventually being named the club's Player of the Year and becoming the first loan signing in Rovers' history to take home the award.

Jan Paul van Hecke's competitive debut for Brighton came at the beginning of the 2022/23 season, a historic year that saw the club achieve its highest-ever top-flight finish of sixth to qualify for Europe.
Under <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/football/article/tudor-leaves-after-just-seven-games-as-spurs-battle-for-survival-23623248" rel="nofollow">Roberto De Zerbi </a>at Brighton, van Hecke racked up 39 appearances across all fronts the next season, featuring seven times in the UEFA Europa League.
