The UEFA Champions League knock-out fixtures delivered some iconic matches. City were chasing a historic comeback against Real Madrid, and Chelsea were looking to overcome a 3-goal deficit at home to the European champions PSG.

Neither of the English teams mounted a comeback and were eliminated. However, Arsenal maintained their momentum and defeated Leverkusen 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. However, the night belonged to Sporting Lisbon, who came from 3-0 down in the first leg to mount a comeback.

English clubs struggle, but Arsenal go through to the next round

Manchester City vs Real Madrid: (Agg 1-5)

Real Madrid had a comfortable three-goal lead going into the game, and in the twentieth minute, they effectively ended the match. Vinícius Júnior scored from the spot after City captain Bernardo Silva was sent off for a goal-line handball.

Erling Haaland's goal before halftime gave the home crowd a boost, but 10-man City gradually lost steam. Vinícius Júnior scored a second goal in stoppage time to give the 15-time winners a 2-1 victory.

Chelsea vs PSG: (Agg 2-8)

Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Chelsea 3-0 at home to enter the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Within the first fifteen minutes, any thoughts of a Chelsea comeback were dashed. Bradley Barcola scored a spectacular goal shortly after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's early goal. The reigning champions appear to be strong favourites to win the title again.

Arsenal vs Leverkusen: (Agg 3-1)

Arsenal's victory over Bayer Leverkusen was the Premier League's only bright spot. Mikel Arteta's team demonstrated their maturity at the Emirates following a tight 1-1 draw in the first leg. Declan Rice extended the lead in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory after Eberechi Eze opened the deadlock with a signature long-range rocket.

Sporting Vs Bodo/Glimt: (Agg 5-3)

Sporting CP was the story of the evening. The Portuguese champions put on an unforgettable effort against Bodø/Glimt, a Norwegian team, after falling behind 3-0 in the first leg. Maxi Araújo and Rafael Nel completed an incredible 5-0 comeback after they forced extra time with three goals in regulation. Bodo/Glimt's legendary run came to an abrupt end on a historic night in Lisbon.
