Lilavatibai Podar (Santacruz) continued their stunning upward trajectory in inter-school football with a commanding 5-0 win over Holy Cross Convent (Mira Road) in the girls U-14 Division I final of the Dreams Sports Mumbai School Sports Association tournament at the Wings Sports Centre, Bandra, recently. It was a repeat of last year’s final in Division II, where Lilavati had prevailed 2-0 against the same opponents. This time, however, their dominance was even more which highlights their rapid development as a unit.

Right from the opening whistle, the Lilavatibai Podar girls seized control of the proceedings with possession, quick passing transitions and some relentless pressure high up the pitch. Their aggressive approach yielded early success as skipper Sanvi Chaubey found the back of the net in the 6th and 10th minute to push her side into a comfortable lead. Striker Harshita Singh then netted a fine hat-trick (14th, 16th, and 24th minute) as the Santacruz girls cruised to the title.

In the boys final, St Stanislaus (Bandra) scripted a 6-4 win over Cathedral and John Connon (Fort) via tie-breaker. Ameya Vanikar and Mikhail Marshal scored for Cathedral before a Jaden Dias brace took the match into the shootout. In the tie-breaker, Stanislaus scored through Jaden, Ehsaan Ansari, Caleb Fernandes and Ethan Rodrigues while only Aarav Mehta and Kabir Asher could convert for Cathedral.
