Mumbai's young turks will have to hit game-mode when eight teams lock horns with each other in what promises to be a stirring Under-16 inter-school football tournament on Friday. The one-day tournament serves as a crucial platform for the growth and development of youth football in Mumbai, offering talented youngsters the opportunity to showcase their skills, gain recognition, and learn from the best. The healthy competition between teams encourages players to learn from their peers and improve their footballing abilities.

The Neville D’Souza Turf in Bandra West will serve as the battleground for Mid-Day's Ranis of Rink 2024, a football spectacle that promises to showcase the burgeoning talent of the best eight teams in the city. Bombay International School (Babulnath), Apostolic Carmel (Bandra), Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu), Arya Vdya Mandir (Bandra), St. Lawrence (Kandivli), Rustomjee Cambridge (Dahisar), Mary Immaculate Girls (Borivali) will battle it out amongst themselves to lift the coveted trophy in the presence of several prominent personalities. The teams will be divided into two competitive groups of four each, followed by a semi-final knockout round and a summit clash at the end.

The tournament's second edition witnessed AVM Juhu showcasing remarkable grit and determination and finding their flow against a forceful Dhirubhai Ambani side 3-2 to be crowned the champions. In the maiden season of the tournament, it was Mary Immaculate Girls MIG who surpassed all expectations and raised the bar for themselves by clinching the elusive title. Thanks to the strategic understanding of sharpshooter Angeline Antony, who finished with 12 goals alone, put the game beyond Apostolic Carmel Bandra to register a comfortable 3-0 win in the summit clash.
