<p>Argentina's football captain and star striker Lionel Messi announced his shocking retirement from international football after he yet again failed to help his national team clinch a title in a major tournament after they lost to Chile in the Copa America final.</p>

<p>Lionel Messi lost his third major title final with Argentina in three successive years. They lost to Germany in the FIFA World Cup 2014, to Chile in the Copa America 2015 final and this year again in the Copa America 2016 final.</p>
