Former international shuttlers Aparna Popat and Mangrish Palekar showcased their class in their respective categories to advance to the next round of the GD Birla Memorial Masters Inter-Club badminton tournament, promoted by Badminton Gurukul, at Bombay Gymkhana on Friday.
In the 75+ women’s doubles quarters, Popat and partner Naheed Divecha beat Jaanvi Merani and Sonal Battad 15-11, 15-3.
Meanwhile, the duo of Palekar and Deepak Jaitly comprehensively defeated Ankit Kabra and Tushar Mangal 30-11 to storm into the 85+ men’s doubles quarter-finals.
