Two-time Olympic medal-winning shooter Manu Bhaker, 24, often gives fans a short and sweet glimpse of her life through her Instagram account. However, her latest reel to her 1.4 million followers carried a more serious tone and gave a deeper message regarding the irreverent use of social media, particularly by influencers, in today’s day and age.

“Life is very unpredictable. So I urge people to be very kind to each other. Everyone has access to social media, even the young generation learns a lot from it. So it’s important to provide them with positive influences. While there are influencers who are doing a good job, there are also some who are extremely critical and make negative comments. But why [is that necessary]? No one has succeeded in life by trying to pull others down. Negative comments can make or break a person. Even from a personal point of view, it feels great when people support you through good phases and bad. So cherish your life and the people around you,” said Bhaker, who recently won the bronze medal in the 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou, China.
