Spain's tennis star Carlos Alcaraz secured a dominating victory against Italy's Jannik Sinner to clinch the US Open 2025 title.
In the much-anticipated contest between the tennis duo, Alcaraz won the clash by 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, which lasted for 2 hours and 42 minutes at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
With this, the Spaniard managed to lift his second US Open title.
Speaking about the victory, Alcaraz expressed his gratitude towards his team and family for helping him to prepare for the games.
"My team, my family, I am really lucky to have you guys, to be honest. The hard work you do to make me even better, not only in the professional part, but the personal part as well. Every achievement that I am [making] is thanks to you, and this one is no less; it's also yours," said the 22-year-old athlete during the trophy presentation.
The triumph also helped Alcaraz to become the second youngest man to win six major men's singles titles in the Open Era after Bjorn Borg.
Talking about his loss, Sinner admitted that his opponent displayed better show and was quick to congratulate Alcaraz after the contest and said, "You are doing an amazing job. I know [there's] a lot of hard work behind this performance today, you were better than me. Enjoy it. It's a great moment."
On the other hand, in the women's category, the world number one Aryna Sabalenka overpowered Amanda Anisimova to defend her US Open crown. She ruthlessly attacked Anisimova's shaky service game to complete a 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) victory on Arthur Ashe Stadium, which cements her status at the pinnacle of women's tennis.
The 27-year-old from Belarus had gone into Saturday's final knowing it was her last chance to grab a Grand Slam crown in 2025 after agonising losses in the Australian and French Open finals. She brought all her experience to the hard court to keep Anisimova at bay, helping her clinch her maiden Grand Slam title.
"It's crazy, all those tough lessons were worth it for this one. I'm speechless right now," said Sabalenka after becoming the first woman to successfully defend the US Open since Serena Williams in 2014.
