Go behind the scenes of an opera

An upcoming workshop will provide participants a peek into the elements that go in the making of a grand opera

Listen to this article :

In their much-coveted opera appreciation series, an encore is set to happen in the form of a third workshop. And this time, taking the lead will be pianist and opera accompanist Mark Troop, who will later be joined by Italian composer and conductor Massimo Tadia. In the vein of the previous workshops, this one will continue to unravel that enigmatic genre of the opera.

The session will see Troop turn to practical aspects of realising an opera on stage, using nuggets from the upcoming production at the venue, Josef Haydn's La Fedelta Premiata. From production elements to costuming, music direction and set design, the workshop will give participants a complete behind-the-scenes peek into how an elaborate operatic production comes alive on stage.
