Snap judgement A quick verdict on the buzz
The real Mahatma&nbsp; Retellings are usually looked upon with a lot of apprehension. So, when Neelima Dalmia Adhar&rsquo;s The Secret Diary of Kasturba (Westland) came out early last month, it was expected to ruffle some feathers. The bio-fiction, as Adhar describes it, delves into the mind of Kasturba, wife of MK Gandhi, and narrates her transition from a love-struck bride into a fierce lioness, protecting her cub from the very ideals of Gandhism. Adhar gives weight to the emotional battles of her protagonist, only validating the challenges she faced as wife of the Mahatma.
Earworms that charm Ankur Tewari&rsquo;s EP Side A is perfect for Sundays when you just want to lie on your couch and reminisce about lost love. We loved Wagairah Wagairah, Aa Jaao and Harkat. The songwriter gets better with every song, and knows just what touches our heartstrings.&nbsp;
A worthy follower Feroz Abbas Khan&rsquo;s dramatic adaptation of K Asif Ali&rsquo;s 1960 epic Mughal-E-Azam was much more than theatre. It was an amalgamation of all art forms; thus outlining how stories thrive on the senses and not on plotlines. Neel Patel&rsquo;s opulent scenic design was befitting the historical narrative and David Lander&rsquo;s light design created symbolic contrasts and ensured a competent portrayal of war and love scenes alike. And Gauri Upadhyaya&rsquo;s Kathak choreography followed its own graph of emotions, independent of the music.&nbsp;
