Facebook accused of facilitating ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya community: Report

The case of the Rohingya representatives will argue that Facebook breached its duty of care to its users, was "fully aware of the mobilising power" its platform had and the effects this could cause, and ignored numerous stark warnings of the damage that was unfolding as a direct result of their business

Representatives of the Rohingya genocide victims in Myanmar have alleged that Facebook or Meta has encouraged and facilitated the violence and ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya communities carried out by the Myanmar regime. 

The group were set to write a 'Letter Before Action' against Facebook over its role in enabling the genocide, a report said on Monday. The letter comes in advance of an anticipated claim seeking damages from the tech giant.
