Hard to manage long distance...

Is it impossible to manage a long-distance relationship after a while? My boyfriend and I have been trying to make it work for over a year-and-a-half, but I think he is beginning to lose interest. It feels as if there is no way out because he won’t be able to move back to my city anytime soon, and I can’t join him because I have my own professional and personal commitments. We have spoken about ending this relationship but can’t seem to do it because we still love and care for each other. Should we just tell ourselves that this state can’t continue forever, and take a firm stand on whether we should go our separate ways? It will break my heart, but I can’t see a way out.
If there is no path forward, and neither of you can come up with a measure to address the issue of distance, there will inevitably come a point where one or both of you will start to question this. There are still ways of managing it, with constant communication and honesty, but you should also consider a short holiday together, if possible, because any one-on-one connection can go a long way towards strengthening your bond. If that isn’t an option either, the sooner you both discuss a way forward, the easier it will be for you both to accept and cope with any decision.

My boyfriend cheated on me, and I forgave him, but he is still the more possessive one in this relationship. He constantly doubts me, for no reason, and it makes me feel as if he is projecting his own issues onto me. I have told him to stop being so distrustful, but he can’t seem to change, and I am made to feel like someone constantly being tested. How do I fix this?
You can’t fix a relationship where trust is hard to find. His inability to treat you the way you have treated him is a red flag. Reconsider your relationship.
