A strong relationship is built on trust and withholding something that may erode it will always be a risky proposition

My partner’s family is disruptive and toxic, and I try my best to protect him from them. He doesn’t see this from my perspective at all and has begun to accuse me of trying to separate him from them. What do I have to do to make him realise that what I do for him is out of love and not because I have issues with his family? I have spoken about this time and again, but he just doesn’t understand that their influence on his life is negative and not good for his future or his relationship with me. If he can’t get away from them, I have no hope of our relationship surviving. Should I just give up on this and save myself from any unnecessary pain?
He is an adult, and how people engage with their families is entirely out of an outsider’s control. He may not see things from your perspective because he doesn’t want to, which is why you must make a decision about your future based on the reality of how this is affecting your mental health or what it might do to it. If you are convinced that his family’s presence causes harm, and your partner will not change anything about this situation to accommodate your wishes, you are only postponing the inevitable demise of your relationship. He has priorities that don’t match yours, so base your decision on how much you are willing to compromise.
What should I do if my girlfriend breaks up with me after finding out that I was once accused of fraud? I want her to get to know me better first and then decide for herself, which is why I have not told her about this.
Honesty is the best approach because your girlfriend may not see this the same way if you choose to come clean at a later date, irrespective of your reasons. A strong relationship is built on trust and withholding something that may erode it will always be a risky proposition.
