It’s your body and what you choose to mark it with is your decision. You should try and understand why he wants this as proof though, and why you are the one who has to prove your loyalty or commitment to him in this manner

I am a 29-year old guy and have been in a relationship with a woman my age for a year or so. A few weeks ago, she began complaining about how there is no excitement between us and when I asked her what she meant, she said it felt like we were only together because we needed someone to be with. I asked her if she loved me and she said she wasn’t sure, which surprised me because I assumed that was why we were in this relationship. Since then, I have been trying to understand if she has a point, and if she really wants to be with me. I am beginning to wonder if we should just end this and go our separate ways because trying to spice up something that isn’t genuine or heartfelt feels like a waste of time. What should I do?
If neither of you really wants to be with the other, and your reasons don’t feel compelling enough, it may make more sense to put your individual efforts into a relationship worth holding on to. Talk to her about your doubts and, if companionship alone is what is keeping this alive, consider the effect is has on both of you for now as well as the future. There’s nothing wrong with wanting companionship, but there will come a time when it will start to feel inadequate, which is probably what your partner has begun to experience already.
My boyfriend wants me to get a tattoo of his name to prove my love for him. I don’t mind doing it but am also concerned because it is permanent and makes it feel as if I belong to him. Am I over-thinking this? Should I just get it?
