She says she is not interested!

I want to marry one of my friends, but she is not keen and says she isn’t interested in me. I don’t know why she feels this way because we have been friends since school and our families know each other well. We are very fond of each other, and I believe we would have a great marriage because we have similar backgrounds and like the same things. She has been single for two years and I know she is not dating, so her response has been confusing because I thought what I was suggesting would be good for her as well as my future. Should I tell her I am willing to wait, or assume there is no hope and give up on this ever happening? It makes me sad because I can see why we would make a great couple.
You may have the best possible reasons for why this works, but no relationship can survive if both partners don’t believe in it. She has made her intentions clear, and her being single has nothing to do with whether she needs to give this a chance or not. If you really are a good friend, what you should do is learn to accept her for who she is and acknowledge that she is an adult capable of making her own life decisions. Accept what she has to say and move on.
How do I respond when a guy compliments me? I tend to struggle with this, and they don’t know how to react, which makes things awkward, and I end up losing out on the possibility of spending time with people I like. I think I have missed going on multiple dates because of my inability to say something nice in return.
It’s a compliment, which is a good thing, so all you have to do is thank the person. You don’t have to come up with anything witty or respond with a similar compliment of your own. Sometimes, just being yourself is the best thing.
