My family won’t allow me to date anyone and this has caused a rift between us because it feels as if they aren’t interested in who I am as an individual. They may have my best interests at heart, but it always feels as if my own individuality, feelings, and emotions are of no importance to them. I am never asked for an opinion, and everything is handed down as a rule as if I don’t have a mind of my own. I have decided to cut all ties with them when I am older, and I will but, until that happens, I don’t know how to manage my anger and stay single while all my friends have relationships and get to evolve as people. What should I do?
Your anger is justified because your family can’t claim to look out for you if they aren’t acknowledging you as an individual with a mind and identity of your own. If this has not changed in any way since you were younger, it’s possible that it may never do because some people get set in their ways and refuse to deviate from rules they have set for themselves. As an adult, you are allowed to make decisions about your life, provided you have the wherewithal to manage the consequences. If you want to consider a relationship, think about when you can arrive at a place in your life where that decision doesn’t cause you harm. Freedom comes in many forms, so think about what independence means, whether it is financial or otherwise, and give yourself time because this is not a permanent situation. Patience may be difficult to consider when you’re struggling with these emotions, but it can also protect you in all kinds of ways.

How do I know if my boyfriend will cheat on me when he goes on a holiday with his friends?
Strong relationships are built on honesty, faith, trust, and communication. Without these, you will always have doubts and no way of dispelling them.
