The weekdays after the opening weekend usually test the film and help forecast its run in the cinema halls. When Dhurandhar was released last year, it witnessed sustained earnings after the initial buzz. Dhurandhar: The Revenge, on the other hand, is defying all expectations, norms, and traditionally held notions about the Bollywood box office. After a spectacular first Monday, Dhurandhar 2 had a great Tuesday too, with the film sailing past the Rs 900 crore mark globally.
Dhurandhar 2, which released on Thursday in theatres, had record-breaking paid previews on Wednesday. The paid previews helped the film open to a record Rs 145 crore domestically and gross Rs 240 crore worldwide. This also helped the film amass Rs 750 crore worldwide in its extended four-day opening weekend. After adding Rs 100 crore to that on Monday, the spy thriller enjoyed a strong sixth day too on Tuesday.
It earned a staggering Rs 56 crore net on Thursday domestically. Overseas, the film had a strong USD 7 million start, raking in over USD 22 million in its first weekend globally. Over the weekend, the film saw a decline globally but still maintained some momentum. On Tuesday, the Ranveer Singh-starrer added USD 2 million to its overseas collections.
Dhurandhar 2 earned more than Rs 85 crore gross worldwide on Tuesday, a huge figure for a weekday.
As a reult the domestic collection now stands at Rs 575 crore net (Rs 687 crore gross) and is now rushing towards the Rs 600 crore mark, which it should easily cross by Wednesday, and even make a run for the Rs 700 crore mark by Friday.
Similarly, its total overseas collections after 6 days stand at USD 27 million (approximately Rs 250 crore). With that, the spy thriller has earned Rs 937 crore worldwide so far. This translates to about USD 100 million, making it only the eighth Bollywood film to crtoss the mark worldwide.
Dhurandhar 2 has surpassed the lifetime collections of several all-time blockbusters. On Tuesday, it left the final global hauls of films like Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar ( Rs 915 crore), Ranbir Kapoor's Animal ( Rs 917 crore), and Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan ( Rs 922 crore) behind. It will now eyes Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD (both around Rs 1050 crore).
