While Mondays are often dull days for films and their box office collections, as the numbers drop drastically, it wasn't the case for Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The first working day of the week had no impact on the film's collections, which have now crossed the Rs 850 crore mark worldwide. Leave alone slowing down, the Aditya Dhar-directorial went on to register the biggest Monday in Indian cinema history.

Dhurandhar 2 Day 5 collection

Dhurandhar 2 released on Thursday, March 19, in theatres, after a record-breaking paid previews on Wednesday. Thanks to the paid previews, the film took off with a record Rs 145 crore start domestically and Rs 240 crore gross worldwide. Over the weekend, which also included the festival of Eid, the Ranveer Singh-starrer only spiked up in numbers and buzz. After Sunday, Dhurandhar 2 had grossed Rs 454 crore net in India alone in just four days.

On Monday, the spy thriller was expected to see a drop, as films normally do. However, Dhurandhar 2 managed to limit that dip to just 43%. On Monday, the film collected another Rs 65 crore net in India. Overseas, the film has been an equally big phenomenon. After a record USD 7-million start, the film has steadily gone up the charts. On Monday, it added USD 2.5 million to its kitty internationally. It earned Rs 100 crore worldwide on Monday.

Dhurandhar 2 total collection

Considering its domestic haul, the film has earned Rs 519 crore net in five days. This is the highest five-day collection for an Indian film, beating the likes of Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2, and leaving the Bollywood record of Pathaan (Rs 268 crore) behind.

Talking of its overseas earnings, it collected USD 25 million in the opening weekend. In North America, the film became the third-biggest earner over the weekend. With that, Dhurandhar 2’s global total now stands at a jaw-dropping Rs 850 crore as it gallops towards the Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office.

By crossing the Rs 800-crore mark, the Ranveer Singh film has crossed the haul of Aamir Khan’s PK, which was the highest-grossing Indian film of its time with Rs 769 crore. Within a matter of hours, the film also surpassed the lifetime collection of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (Rs 807 crore). It now eyes Stree 2 and Kantara Chapter One. It should easily cross both films’ worldwide collections on Tuesday if it crosses Rs 900 crore.
