Even as Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past enjoys a successful run at the box office, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has found himself facing legal trouble. Lakshmi Ganpathy Films has reportedly issued a legal notice seeking Rs. 19 lakh in alleged dues and warned that further legal action could potentially impact the film's release.
Lakshmi Ganpathy Films has reportedly issued a legal notice to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, seeking payment of Rs. 19 lakh and cautioning that legal proceedings could potentially affect the release of the film. The company claims the dispute stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on July 3, 2023, for the production of the project, which was then titled Haunted Winter.
According to the notice, Lakshmi Ganpathy Films had agreed to finance the film on the condition that both parties would share the profits equally. The company alleges that it invested Rs. 94 lakh in the project. It further states that subsequent agreements revised the film's budget and later brought Anand Pandit Motion Pictures LLP on board as a co-producer through a tripartite agreement.
The notice claims that following the execution of cancellation agreements, Lakshmi Ganpathy Films relinquished its rights to the project. In return, Vikram Bhatt allegedly agreed to refund the company's investment and pay an additional Rs. 50 lakh towards profit-sharing.
The notice also references financial dealings related to Vikram Bhatt's earlier film, 1920. According to the company, after adjusting mutual accounts and factoring in a payment made by Bhatt in February 2024, an outstanding amount of Rs. 19 lakh remains unpaid.
The notice directs Vikram Bhatt to clear the alleged outstanding amount of Rs. 19 lakh, along with applicable interest, within 10 days of its receipt. It further states that failure to comply with the demand may compel Lakshmi Ganpathy Films to pursue legal remedies and initiate recovery proceedings before the appropriate court.
Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past is directed by Vikram Bhatt and stars Mimoh Chakraborty and Chetna Pande in key roles. As per Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs. 12.22 crore in five days. It has outperformed recent theatrical releases, including Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga, Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Governor, and Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhagya Vidhata.
