Shah Rukh Khan may be one of the biggest superstars in the world, but for many who have crossed paths with him, it is his warmth and respectful nature that often leaves the biggest impression. In the latest episode of The POV podcast, Hina Khan and Abhinav Shukla recalled their first encounters with the actor and shared why those moments have stayed with them.
Hina, who was joined by Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav on the podcast, took a trip down memory lane to recall meeting Shah Rukh on a flight when she was still relatively new to the industry. She said it had been around a year and a half since Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai began when she spotted the superstar sitting next to her.
The actor admitted she was anxious to get a picture with Shah Rukh but found herself in a tricky situation, the superstar was fast asleep. Hina recalled that when he finally woke up for coffee, she gathered the courage to greet him and ask for a photograph.
According to her, Shah Rukh told her to wait and assured her that he would take a picture with her. He said, "Wait, I'll give you a photo." After finishing his coffee, however, he went back to sleep, leaving Hina wondering if she had missed her chance.
But the story had a sweet ending. Once the flight landed, Shah Rukh got up, called Hina and clicked a picture with her. She also recalled later seeing him head to the last seat in their coach to catch up on some sleep. At the time, he was busy promoting a film and, according to Hina, "hadn't slept for days."
Abhinav Shukla also shared his first memory of meeting Shah Rukh, which took place backstage at a ramp show for a watch brand. Having recently arrived in Mumbai from Punjab and begun modelling, Abhinav said he decided to walk up and shake hands with the superstar.
What impressed him was Shah Rukh's response. Though the actor was in conversation with his manager, he reportedly noticed Abhinav, stood up and shook his hand.
"That defines the character of that man," Abhinav said, praising SRK's gesture.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is currently busy shooting for King, which will also see him share screen space with his daughter Suhana Khan.
