Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane are joining hands to champion independent storytelling with Incognito, an acclaimed psychological thriller that will premiere on July 15. The short film will also mark the launch of Oh Flip Shorts, a new YouTube channel dedicated exclusively to premium short films. Backed by producer Ranjan Singh and curated by Kashyap, the platform aims to give emerging filmmakers a space to showcase original stories, with one new curated short premiering every month.
Written and directed by Ravi Muppa, Incognito stars Vikram Singh, Ayushi Nema and Dev Chauhan. Before its digital release, the film enjoyed an impressive international festival run, screening at more than 20 festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs International ShortFest.
Sharing why he continues to support short films, Kashyap said, "I've always loved short films as they are the first stepping stone for a director to test their storytelling style and give an actual practice to them of shooting a story."
He added, "This is our effort to showcase some excellent short films, curated by me and presented by filmmakers whose work I look up to. We're glad to begin with Incognito by Ravi Muppa and are hopeful that audiences will enjoy it."
Vikramaditya Motwane was equally enthusiastic about the project, calling Incognito "gripping and beautifully atmospheric" with "an out-of-the-box ending." Congratulating the filmmaker and the team, he said he was delighted to help bring the film to a wider audience.
Incognito follows a motel receptionist struggling to make ends meet, who secretly earns money by recording hidden-camera videos. However, his life takes a dark turn when he accidentally captures footage of a young woman in danger of being trafficked, forcing him to choose between doing the right thing or protecting himself.
Director Ravi Muppa, who has previously worked on projects including Stree, Bala and The Family Man, described the online release as an important milestone for the film. He also confirmed that the journey doesn't end here, with a feature-length adaptation already in active development.
The upcoming feature will be co-produced by Hollywood's Invention Studios along with Flip Films and Campfire Studios. Kashyap, Nicholas Weinstock, Divya Souza and Ranjan Singh are attached as producers, signalling bigger plans for the thriller beyond its successful festival run.
