Kala Hiran producer Amit Jani took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share that actor Salman Khan had sent him a legal notice over the upcoming film. The movie is reportedly based on the actor's 1998 blackbuck poaching case. However, after receiving the legal notice, Jani has broken his silence, revealing that there's nothing against Salman in the film.

Salman Khan sends legal notice to Kala Hiran makers

Salman Khan's legal team sent a notice to the makers of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, claiming that the film is based on the actor's ongoing blackbuck poaching case. The notice sought an immediate halt to the film's release and also demanded the removal of all posters and promotional material associated with the project. The notice also further warns of legal action if the makers fail to comply with the demands.

Kala Hiran producer reacts to legal notice

While talking to India Today, Kala Hiran producer Amit Jani said, "This is not a Salman Khan biopic. The film is based on a larger story involving the Bishnoi community, their struggle, and their deep connection with wildlife. We have tried to bring that story to the screen."

He further added, "I have not shown Salman Khan in a negative light, nor have I glorified Lawrence Bishnoi. The film presents what is already available in the public domain and highlights the beliefs and history of the Bishnoi community."

Jani added that he was surprised by the legal notice since only a poster has been released so far, while the teaser is scheduled to arrive on June 20. "Only the poster has been released. The teaser is yet to come. Sending a legal notice at this stage, without any discussion, was unnecessary," he said.

The producer also maintained that the upcoming film focuses on the perspective of those connected to the case rather than the accused. He went on to claim that films based on real-life incidents are often told through the experiences of victims, complainants, witnesses and affected communities. Jani also added that the film explores the sacrifices made by members of the Bishnoi community for protecting wildlife and nature.
