Kuberaa producer Puskur Ram Mohan Rao to enter Hindi cinema with Abdul Hamid biopic

After backing the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film Kuberaa (2025), producer Puskur Ram Mohan Rao is now foraying into Hindi cinema. The producer will bring to screen the life story of Param Vir Chakra awardee Company Quarter Master Havildar Abdul Hamid, who was killed in action during the 1965 India-Pakistan war. The project is currently in development, with the lead actor and director yet to be announced.

As part of the Battle of Asal Uttar that took place between September 9 and 10, 1965, Hamid - then 32 - destroyed eight Pakistani tanks and lost his life while destroying the ninth. Even as he is tight-lipped about who will play the soldier, Rao said, "Abdul Hamid's courage, sense of duty, and sacrifice during the 1965 India-Pakistan War make his story inspiring. But beyond the act of bravery itself, there is a human story that deserves to be understood," he asserted.

Rao is working with stakeholders connected to Hamid's legacy to ensure the requisite permissions are in place before the project goes on floors. The producer is clear that the intention is not to make another war spectacle. "His story carries a larger message of courage, sacrifice, and putting the nation before oneself. That should reach the new generation. When you are telling the story of a Param Vir Chakra awardee, there is a responsibility to ensure that the film presents his legacy with honesty and dignity."

Abdul Hamid's life story was previously depicted in Chetan Anand's television series, ‘Param Vir Chakra'. Naseeruddin Shah played Hamid in the show
