Sharib Hashmi opens up about why he decided to do Ananth Mahadevan's Pastt Tense

Overwhelming is Sharib Hashmi's word of choice when asked to describe the experience of his movie Pastt Tense's première at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Director Ananth Mahadevan's human drama, led by Tannishtha Chatterjee and Aditya Rawal, is inspired by a real-life story of a son searching for his biological parents who abandoned him at birth. Even as he refused to divulge details about his character, Hashmi noted that he was surprised when the director offered him the part.

"When Ananth sir narrated it to me, I immediately said yes. The story was beautifully written. I was surprised with the character Ananth sir wanted me to play, but it's one of the most challenging parts I have portrayed," he shared.

Collaborating with Mahadevan was one of the factors that prompted the actor to join Pastt Tense. The experience only exceeded his expectations, said Hashmi. "My first reason to do the film was Ananth sir. I always had a desire to work with him. I loved the way he approached every scene. He is not a tough taskmaster, but knows how to extract work from his cast and crew."
