Overwhelming is Sharib Hashmi’s word of choice when asked to describe the experience of his movie Pastt Tense’s première at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. Director Ananth Mahadevan’s human drama, led by Tannishtha Chatterjee and Aditya Rawal, is inspired by a real-life story of a son searching for his biological parents who abandoned him at birth. Even as he refused to divulge details about his character, Hashmi noted that he was surprised when the director offered him the part.
