During a press conference at New York City Hall, Mamdani drew laughs after comparing the name of a new housing report to the Oscar-winning film.

While presenting the city's Rental Rip-off Report, also referred to as "RRR", the mayor paused to clarify that the acronym should not be confused with the 2022 Telugu blockbuster. The light-hearted remark instantly amused those present at the event and quickly found its way onto social media.

Introducing the report, Zohran Mamdani said, "Today, City Hall delivers on that promise. This Rental Rip-off Report, also known as RRR, not to be confused with the 2022 Tollywood smash hit, is based on thousands of testimonies."

The unexpected pop culture reference quickly caught the attention of fans, with many praising the mayor for acknowledging the film in such a high-profile public address.
