Himanshi Khurana and Asim Riaz dated for almost three years after meeting on Bigg Boss 13. It was in 2023 when the couple decided to part ways and move on with their lives. As they announced their separation, Himanshi hinted at religious beliefs being one of the reasons behind them calling it quits. Now, the actress has opened up about her fears and shared how her religious beliefs were questioned.
"He used to tell me the good things about his religion. Everyone tells you about those things; there is nothing wrong with that. They wanted me to understand it and accept it, but it was not acceptable to me. There was nothing wrong with him; he never misbehaved with me, but it was my own choice that I did not want to do something like that," she said in a podcast with Paras Chhabra.
She then recalled reaching a point where the conflict became an internal one. "I felt like I was betraying my God." The actress also shared how she was told she would not be able to follow her faith and beliefs anymore. As the fear crept in, she yearned to undertake Char Dham yatra and other pilgrimages before making that choice.
Her questions eventually became even more personal. "Then a question came into my mind - will I be cremated or buried? This question came from my subconscious. Anyone can have any choice. I believe everyone should have their own individual choice," she said.
After announcing their separation, she also posted a screenshot of their Instagram chat in which the duo could be seen discussing revealing their break-up reason. She shared, "This is my last and final statement to clarify that I am a secular person, so I am not disrespecting any religion... I just chose mine. If I don't want any one of you to blame him (Asim) for the breakup, then I also want no one of you to blabber against me."
Himanshi Khurana was in the news this year as she had reportedly received a death threat accompanied by an extortion demand of Rs 10 crore, leading to swift police action in Mohali.
