Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal reveals how Disha Vakani used to shoot for TMKOC during her pregnancy: There was a stretcher specially kept for her

Actor Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal has said that the team of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah begged Disha Vakani, who played Dayaben in the show, to return, but she refused. Jennifer also revealed to Pinkvilla that she pleaded with the show throughout her pregnancy in 2013 to return.

Jennifer was four and a half months pregnant when she asked the show's producer, Asit Modi, not to fire her from the show. However, Asit remained insistent about removing her. She portrayed Roshan Daruwala Kaur Sodhi, the wife of Roshan Singh Sodhi (then played by Gurucharan Singh).

When Jennifer begged to come back during her pregnancy

Jennifer revealed, "Main haath pair jod rahi thi meri pregnancy ke time ki mujhe vaapis aana hai. Aur yeh log Disha ke samne haath pair jod rahe the. Inhone itne time tak uske haath pair jode hai. Disha ki delivery ke baad, sab kuch ke baad, itne haath pair jode hai, voh nahi aayi toh nahi aayi (I was begging during my pregnancy that I want to return. The makers were begging Disha to return. They pleaded her to return after her delivery, but she didn't)."

Jennifer revealed how Disha used to shoot during her pregnancy

Jennifer was then asked whether Disha left the show due to the toxicity on the sets. Jennifer revealed that Disha had quit due to her pregnancy, though she worked till the ninth month of her pregnancy. She shared, "Usko seedhi chadna mana tha toh usko strecher jaisa tha, uspe beetha ke upar lee jaate the. Kyunki upar shoot karna rehta tha koi ek interior mein (She was not allowed to climb stairs. There was a stretcher-like thing, and she was made to sit on that, and then she was taken upstairs whenever they wanted to shoot in an interior)."

Jennifer revealed that she is still in touch with Disha, and they had recently met when Disha was carrying her daughter. Recalling the fond memories, Jennifer shared that she hasn't found anyone like Disha before. She said, "Disha, Neha and I used to share the same makeup room. Disha has always been full of energy and a kind soul. Even after being extremely tired, she would make sure that she gave pictures to her fans. There were only two beds in the makeup room, and Disha would always let me and Neha rest rather than sharing the bed."

Jennifer appeared on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah between 2008 and 2013 and again from 2016 until 2023. Since its premiere in July 2008, many actors have left the show. They include Bhavya Gandhi, Shailesh Lodha, Neha Mehta, Jheel Mehta, Nidhi Bhanushali, and Gurucharan Singh Sodhi, among others.
