Actor Sagar Parekh has created a space for himself in the showbiz with his sincere performances and his ability to take up different kinds of roles. Down the years, he has won love from fans for bringing honesty to his characters. The entertainment industry can bring you fame and love from your fan base, but also constant scrutiny on social media. Talking about dealing with trolling and online pressure, Sagar admitted that he does get bothered at times with negative comments.
"I won't pretend it doesn't affect me. We are all human. When you are in a public profession, people form opinions very quickly, sometimes without knowing your journey, your struggles or your reality. Earlier, comparisons and trolling used to bother me more because, as an actor, you naturally question yourself all the time, at least I do. Because that is something I use as a tool for growth, also," he said.
The actor revealed that experience has taught him an important lesson about self-worth and individuality. According to him, constantly seeking approval from others can take away a person's unique identity.
"But over the years, I understood something important. If you keep chasing validation, you're going to lose your own individuality. Now I focus more on growth than noise. I faced rejection and self-doubt phases where things were not going as planned. But I have never stopped working on myself. I believe consistency eventually speaks louder than online opinions," Sagar shared.
He also pointed out that social media is not entirely negative. While trolling exists, the same platforms often become a source of encouragement and connection with viewers.
"Honestly, social media has both extremes. The same platform that trolls you is also a platform where someone sends you a message saying your performance really helped me emotionally, your performance moved me emotionally. They feel connected to performances that really drive them, and this is why people still choose to watch TV, films, and our entertainment is still rooted and connected with audiences all around India and the world."
Sagar added that positive feedback from genuine viewers always outweighs criticism in his mind.
"I think one of those genuine messages always matters more to me than 100 negative comments. At the end of the day, I don't want to be remembered for being perfect or being someone out of this world. I just want to be remembered for being real, evolving and taking risks as an actor. That's what my journey has been all about to date."
The actor further revealed that he continues to receive messages from fans for every role he has played throughout his career, something that motivates him to keep moving forward.
"I still get messages for every role that I have played during my career, and it feels great that people recognise your work from all around the world and appreciate your efforts. Every day, almost, I get at least 20 to 30 special messages on average praising my work, something they have seen that they liked, or comments on my social media posts. This is what I focus on and keep moving ahead, keeping my chin high."
For Sagar Parekh, the journey has never been about achieving perfection. Instead, it has been about growth, resilience and staying authentic despite the noise that often comes with life in the spotlight. He was last seen in Anupamaa.
