Dadar's popular seafood restaurant Chaitanya has now opened in Thane. What began in Malvan as a simple, heartfelt kitchen by Surekha Walke and Nitin Walke and later in Dadar has grown into a place people return to instinctively for flavours that feel like home.
The new Thane outpost is a 90-seater spread across ground and first floor, imagined as a contemporary Malvani home. Earthy tones, natural materials, and wooden elements come together to create a space that feels rooted yet refreshed. The layout opens itself comfortably to both intimate meals and larger gatherings.
Ingredients such as coconuts, kokum, tamarind, and seasonal seafood continue to be sourced directly from Malvan.
The Surmai Fry, crisp and golden, arrives with the unmistakable sharpness of coastal spice. The Bombil Fry is delicate yet bold, while the Fried Prawns carry that perfect balance of heat. The Chicken Sukka and Mutton Masala are layered, slow, and deeply satisfying. And then there is the meal that has, for years, defined Chaitanya - fish curry, rice, and solkadhi. Tangy, cooling, comforting, a combination that feels less like a dish and more like a ritual. The thalis, a crowd favourite, are generous and satisfying as always.
The Thane outpost also introduces a tandoor. From the tandoor, the Pomfret Tandoor, Roasted Kaleji, and Tandoor Crab are flame-roasted to a delicate char, crisp at the edges, tender within, and wrapped in a warm, smoky spice that builds with every bite.
