Mumbai's iconic vada pav from Ashok Vada Pav in Dadar has appeared on 'World's Most Iconic Sandwiches', the prestigious list released by TasteAtlas recently. Ranked 25th in the world among other sandwiches, the eatery outside Kirti College in Dadar has been synonymous with the delicious snack eaten by lakhs of Mumbaikars daily.
It is also why Mumbaikars love their vada pav because there is nothing that can beat the functionality of the crisply fried spicy snack made up of potatoes, that people love to eat while they are walking, and travelling in the Mumbai local train.
While many may believe that the vada pav, which is considered the Indian burger, should be higher up, the list has currently ranked the Turkish Tombik Doner at Karadeniz Doner Asim Usta in Istanbul as the most iconic sandwich in the world.
The Turkish delight is followed by others including Bahn Mi Heo Quay in Ho Chi Minh, along with Arepa Reina Pepiada from Caracas, Panino Col Polpo from Polignano a Mare, and Maine-style Lobster Roll from Wiscasset closing the top 5 best sandwiches in the world.
