Over the weekend, Mumbai witnessed a heavy bout of rain, resulting in multiple streets flooding, trees collapsing and vehicles and people being stranded in the rain. But this effect was not only limited to the ground. As many as six arriving flights on Saturday and 13 on Sunday were diverted to various airports due to inclement weather.
According to data posted on the flight-tracking website Flightradar24, the airport also saw an average delay of 43 minutes. One of the Mumbai-bound flights, 6E6544, from Varanasi, attempted two landings on Saturday, but due to low visibility at the airport, was diverted to Surat.
With Mumbai on red alert till Monday, more such diversions are likely to be witnessed. While the Mumbai airport has not released any passenger advisory in the last 2 days, an advisory posted 4 days ago on Social media advised the passengers to check their flight's status with their airlines before boarding their flights.
