Maharashtra Monsoon: Mumbai-Pune train services disrupted after landslide in Karjat-Lonavala Ghat section

Train services on the Mumbai-Pune route were severely disrupted on Monday after a landslide triggered by incessant heavy rainfall occurred in the South East Ghat section between Karjat and Lonavala, Central Railway said.

According to railway officials, the landslide took place between Thakurvadi (TKW) and Monkey Hill Loop Cabin (MHLC) on the Up Main Line (UPML) in the Mumbai Division. Restoration work was launched immediately, with railway teams deployed to clear debris and ensure passenger safety.

As a result, several long-distance trains have been cancelled, diverted, or short-terminated, leading to significant disruption for passengers travelling between Mumbai, Pune and other parts of the country.

11042 Sainagar Shirdi-Dadar Express - Terminated at Pune
17317 Hubballi-Dadar Express - Terminated at Pune
17412 Kolhapur-CSMT Mahalaxmi Express - Terminated at Pune
01492 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Pune Special - Terminated at Karjat
11027 Dadar-Satara Express - Terminated at Karjat

Central Railway has advised passengers to check the latest train status before starting their journey, as restoration work is in progress and further changes to train operations may be announced depending on weather conditions.
