Wardha records Maharashtra's highest temperature at 44.5 degrees Celsius as Vidarbha continue to witness hot weather

Maharashtra continued to experience intense hot weather conditions on Thursday, with several districts across the Vidarbha region recording maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.

Wardha emerged as the hottest district in state and recorded 44.5 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Brahmapuri at 44.2 degrees Celsius and Nagpur at 44.0 degrees Celsius.

Widespread heatwave-like conditions across Vidarbha

According to a weather bulletin, heatwave-like conditions remained concentrated over Vidarbha, where most districts reported temperatures significantly above normal.

Apart from Wardha, Akola recorded 43.4 degrees Celsius, Amravati 42.8 degrees Celsius, Jalgaon 42.5 degrees Celsius, Chandrapur 42.2 degrees Celsius, Malegaon 42.2 degrees Celsius, Gondia 41.8 degrees Celsius, and Buldhana 41.6 degrees Celsius.

Marathwada sees high but slightly lower temperatures

In the Marathwada region, temperatures remained high but relatively lower than in Vidarbha. Beed recorded 40.4 degrees Celsius, while Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani both registered 39.9 degrees Celsius.

Nanded recorded 39.7 degrees Celsius, and Dharashiv reported 36.7 degrees Celsius.

Madhya Maharashtra records warm conditions

The Madhya Maharashtra region also witnessed warm weather conditions. Solapur recorded 38.5 degrees Celsius, Satara 36.5 degrees Celsius, Lohgaon (Pune) 36.0 degrees Celsius, Pune city 35.9 degrees Celsius, Nashik 35.9 degrees Celsius, and Sangli 35.4 degrees Celsius.

Kolhapur remained comparatively cooler at 34.3 degrees Celsius, while the hill station Mahabaleshwar recorded a pleasant 26.1 degrees Celsius.

Coastal Konkan remains relatively moderate

Along the Konkan coast, temperatures remained relatively moderate due to maritime influence.

Alibag recorded 36.6 degrees Celsius, the highest in the coastal belt, followed by Dahanu at 36.7 degrees Celsius, Mumbai at 36.0 degrees Celsius, Santacruz at 35.3 degrees Celsius, and Ratnagiri at 34.2 degrees Celsius. Panaji recorded a minimum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperature data was unavailable.

Warm and humid nights persist across state

Night temperatures also remained elevated in several parts of the state. In Mumbai, the island city and the suburbs recorded minimum temperatures of 30.0 degrees Celsius, while Alibag registered 33.1 degrees Celsius, indicating warm and humid overnight conditions along the coast.

In Vidarbha, minimum temperatures ranged between 24.5 degrees Celsius and 28.3 degrees Celsius, offering little respite from the daytime heat.

Dry weather continues; heat stress advisory issued

No rainfall was reported from any of the major weather stations across Maharashtra, and conditions remained predominantly dry across all regions.

With temperatures crossing the 44 degrees Celsius mark in parts of Vidarbha and several districts recording departures of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal, residents are likely to continue experiencing severe heat stress during afternoon hours.
