Panvel Railway Police launch 'Jeevan Raksha Abhiyan' to curb track crossing among Mumbai local passengers

The Panvel Railway Police on Wednesday conducted a public awareness drive at Panvel railway station as part of its 'Jeevan Raksha Abhiyan' to discourage commuters from crossing railway tracks and reduce accidental deaths and injuries.

The campaign was held between 9.30 am and 11 am on platforms 2 and 3 on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) side of the station. Led by police officers, around 30 police personnel and 10 Home Guards formed a human chain and appealed to commuters to avoid crossing tracks, refrain from performing stunts during train journeys, and follow railway safety norms.

Officials also urged passengers to use the Government Railway Police (GRP) helpline (1512) during emergencies and reminded them that saving a few minutes is not worth risking their lives. The drive was organised following directions issued by the Commissioner of Railway Police, Mumbai, after authorities observed several commuters crossing tracks in a rush to catch local trains.
