<p>A <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-cjp-protest-cjp-supporters-detained-at-shivaji-park-as-mns-chief-raj-thackerays-wife-sharmila-thackeray-joins-mumbai-protest-23640904" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>large number of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)</strong></a> supporters on Wednesday gathered in Dadar area of Central Mumbai to support the ongoing protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.</p>
<p>The protesters are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.</p>
<p>Some of the supporters were reportedly detained by police before the planned protest at Shivaji Park in Mumbai began, sources said.</p>
<p>According to protesters at the scene, some students were stopped before reaching the protest site, while others claimed their mobile phones were confiscated during the police action.</p>

<p>Protesters said that the students were not being allowed to cross the Shiv Sena Bhavan signal in Dadar, with police restricting movement towards <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/photo/in-photos-cops-deployed-in-parts-of-mumbai-as-cjp-protest-continues-in-delhi-112149" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>Shivaji Park</strong></a>.</p>
<p>One student standing near the protest site was reportedly detained after he was found recording videos at the site.</p>
<h2>Tense exchanges with police</h2>
<p>Witnesses said a young protester was seen arguing with police officers as several students, including his father, were taken into custody.</p>
<p>The incident led to tense moments as protesters questioned the detentions.</p>

<h2>Protesters seek release of detainees</h2>
<p>A <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/photo/in-photos-shiv-sena-ubt-protests-in-mumbais-dongri-against-police-action-during-sansad-chalo-march-112156" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>group of protesters entered into discussions with police</strong></a>, urging officers to release those who had been detained before the demonstration.</p>
<p>The negotiations continued as more students gathered in the area.</p>
<h2>Crowd changes route</h2>
<p>After being prevented from moving through the planned route, the crowd turned back and made its way towards the area behind Sena Bhavan, where they continued their protest.</p>

<h2>Situation remains tense</h2>
<p>Official sources said that the security around the protest site while students continued to gather and raise slogans.</p>
