Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday inaugurated the Navi Mumbai Police's state-of-the-art Prahari Integrated CCTV Command Centre (ICCC) at the Police Commissionerate office in CBD Belapur.
The new centre has been designed to strengthen public safety, improve surveillance and help the police control crime more effectively across Navi Mumbai, officials said.
The project has been developed through joint efforts by the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and Panvel Municipal Corporation.
According to an official statement, the Prahari system operates under the motto "Always Watching, Always Protecting" and will allow authorities to monitor activities across the city around the clock.
The integrated command centre is expected to play an important role in traffic management, law and order and emergency response.
With real-time surveillance capabilities, the system will provide the Navi Mumbai Police with greater oversight of developments across the city and support faster responses when incidents occur, officials said.
The new facility is expected to strengthen Navi Mumbai's security infrastructure by bringing surveillance and monitoring capabilities together under one integrated system.
The command centre will help police officials monitor traffic conditions, identify potential security concerns and respond more effectively to emergencies.
The project is also expected to support better coordination between the police and civic authorities in managing situations that affect public safety.
The inauguration was attended by Forest Minister Ganesh Naik and Employment Minister and Raigad Guardian Minister Bharat Gogawale.
Other dignitaries included Legislative Council members Ravindra Phatak and Vikrant Patil, MLA Mandatai Mhatre, MLA Mahesh Baldi, Raigad Zilla Parishad president Mangesh Wakadikar, Navi Mumbai Mayor Sujata Patil and Panvel Mayor Nitin Patil.
Senior officials present at the event included Divisional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal, Thane District Collector Dr Shrikrishna Panchal, Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Kailas Shinde, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, Police Joint Commissioner Deepak Sakore, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pramod Shewale and Panvel Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale.
The launch of Prahari marks another step towards technology-driven policing in Navi Mumbai, the officials said.
By providing a centralised platform for surveillance and response, the Integrated CCTV Command Centre is expected to help the police improve situational awareness and strengthen their ability to respond to crime, traffic issues and emergencies.
The system is aimed at making Navi Mumbai safer while giving law enforcement agencies a more effective technological tool to monitor and manage the city.
