Western Railway on Thursday announced a new weekly special train service between Mumbai and Gorakhpur.

The officials said that it was running the new train on the route to meet the increased travel demand during the summer season.

The railway zone has also extended the trips of two existing summer special trains operating on the Mumbai Central-Kathgodam and Ahmedabad-Patna routes.

The announcement was made through a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek.

Train No. 09157 Bandra Terminus-Gorakhpur Weekly Special will depart from Bandra Terminus on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 12:30 am and will reach Gorakhpur at 5:30 pm the following day, an official statement said.

In the return direction, Train No. 09158 Gorakhpur-Borivali Special will leave Gorakhpur on Monday, 18 May 2026 at 8:30 pm and arrive at Borivali Railway Station at 11:30 am on Wednesday.

Stops on the route

The Bandra Terminus-Gorakhpur Special will stop at several important stations including Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam, Nagda, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Mathura, Hathras City, Bareilly City, Pilibhit, Sitapur, Gonda, Basti and Khalilabad, the official statement said.

It said that the return train from Gorakhpur to Borivali will halt at the corresponding stations along the route.

The train will consist of Sleeper Class and General Second-Class coaches.

Western Railway on Thursday has also announced additional trips for two existing special trains, it said.

Train No. 09075 Mumbai Central Railway Station-Kathgodam Weekly Superfast Special will run an extra trip on May 20, 2026.

Similarly, Train No. 09076 Kathgodam-Mumbai Central Special will operate an additional trip on May 21, 2026.

Ahmedabad-Patna Weekly Special

Train No. 09447 Ahmedabad-Patna Weekly Special will run an extra trip on 20 May 2026, while Train No. 09448 Patna-Ahmedabad Special will operate an additional trip on May 22, 2026, the officials said.

Booking details

According to the officials, the bookings for Train No. 09157 Bandra Terminus-Gorakhpur Special and the extended trips of Train Nos. 09075 and 09447 will open from May 15, 2026 at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and on the official IRCTC website.

Passengers can also check detailed timings, halts and coach composition on the official Indian Railways enquiry portal, they said.
