An explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station was reported on Monday, causing a fire that spread to several nearby vehicles, officials said, ANI reported.
Injuries were feared after blast in car parked near Red Fort and many cars also caught fire after an explosion. A high alert was sounded in the national capital after explosion near Red Fort, the officials told the PTI.
According to the Delhi Fire Department, a call about the explosion was received shortly after the incident, following which three to four vehicles caught fire and sustained damage.
Firefighters were rushed to the spot to control the blaze.
Five fire tenders were initially rushed to the spot, an official said, according to the PTI.
"Nearby cars have also been affected," the official added.
The area has been cordoned off and further details are awaited.
The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, and no injuries have been reported so far.
Investigation into the matter was underway, officials said, adding the efforts were underway to control the blaze.
"A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell has also reached the spot. Further details awaited," Delhi Fire Department told the ANI.
